Do Natural Alternatives work???

Posted by panic_attack on January 28, 2004, at 12:06:44

I am thinking of getting off of all the nasty medication I am on, and try natural stuff. I have anxiety and panic attacks. I am a drinker so I want to get off medication ASAP. Can anyone recommend anything for me? For anxiety/panic disorder? And does it really work? Thanks Guys :)

Differant people respond to various things.

Most of us are screwed up still, but not as badly as before.

What caused your anxiety? Mine was from bullying.

What horrible thoughts do you have racing through your mind constantly? What do you fear the most?

Personal I take a hell of lot of stuff, but won't recommend anything since it ain't working yet. I just try everything someone mentions, then after a time moving on to something else to add to my long list of things.

Behavior therapy works for a lot of people it is said.

5htp can help alot or tryptophan , as well as higher doses of inositol (1g-18g anywhere between that) as these 3 raise serotonin, and many with depression, panic anxiety ect lack serotonin.
Taking inositol may be a good thing to start now as it helps with withdrawals from antidepressants and is ok to take with them while you are giving up.
Saint johns wort can help too, some say its rubbish and others say its great! you have to find out yourself by trying! dont be put off by others if they say something doesnt work, as we are all different remember.
SAMe may be great for you too, expensive but works quickly!
SJW and say 5htp together may be good! many do that.
A product called GABA PLUS sounds very good too! combines inositol with gaba and niacinamide (niacinamide, not niacin is known to bind the same receptors than drugs like xanax and valium), that may be a great thing for you!!

Good luck

P.s natural supplements do work!!! many have found them to be great! there are many out there so dont give up! :)
