Green Tea too strong to my stomach?

Posted by Franz on January 23, 2004, at 10:36:21

Hello, I like green tea, but many times it feels strong for my stomach, I am not sure what it is, I take it plain, no sugar, no milk. Worse if I take it on an empty stomach.

Any suggestion? Thanks

Green tea tends to bother my stomach too, so does black tea for that matter. I think it is the tannic acid that gives me that 'heartburn' feeling. After experimenting with various types and brands of green tea, I have found Good Earth green tea to be the least hurtful to my stomach as well as the most acceptable to my palate :)

gen mai cha is green tea with roasted rice in it - it mellows the tea out a lot. asian food stores and many health food stores have it.

also, just make weaker tea and drink more by volume. i don't like strong tea, myself.
