Anyone ever try this or have any opinion on its use for depression? This is the formula with procaine but I'd also be interested in hearing about trials with the non-procaine formula. Anyway, here's the blurb from Beyond A Century:
GEROVITAL-H3, domestic copy of original Romanian formula, sold as a nutritional supplement. Studies show it to be a reversible MAO inhibitor, and to have anticortisol effects.

I think my grandmother took that for many years..about 30 years ago..if its the same..maybe I'm connfused?
She took it as an Alzheimers preventative as she nursed her mother-in -law with it and didn't want to live if she got it..and it worked for that. She also never had any depression.
Only person I know who has used it.Jan

I have experimented several times with Vitacel GH-7 which I got from AchillesHealthMart. After taking it for about 3 weeks I did seem to get a very mild antidepressant effect, and it did seem that I was able to handle stress a little better. Oddly enough, I noticed that my the texture of my hair improved, becoming less coarse. I felt too though that it was making me feel a little edgy, which is why I stopped taking it the last time. However I am considering adding it back into my regimen with some tryptophan or other anti-anxiety supplements.

>It does have procaine plus some additional vitamins such as niacin. You should be able to find the exact formulation on their website-- http://www.achilleshealthmart.com You can find info on the original European version here: xxx

Your're welcome. Here's another link with a list of recommendations/articles about supplements for lowering cortisol. Samaritan Pharmaceuticals was (or is) developing a procaine based drug called Anticort, but for some reason it's no longer mentioned on their web-site.
