This is probably a very abstract connection, but computer monitors create high outputs of positive ions. Negative ion generators are sold and used for their antidepressant potential. High output negative ion generators have been tested in double blind trials for their antidepressant potential.
Some studies suggest that high levels of positive ions decrease the production of the catecholamines.

Can anyone recommend a reputable brand of negative ion emitter or what specs to look for??

The ones used in the studies emitted in the millions of ions per cubic centemeter.
I'm not sure which brands are the most reputable.
