Fish oil - How much EPA/DHA do you take daily?

Interested in seeing the amounts people are taking on a daily basis. Also interested in hearing if you feel it has helped you.

I take about a gram of EPA, and about 700mg of DHA.

I find myself more agreeable, less irritable, less anhedonia and guilt, and saddness.

I find the EPA definately more mood brightening than the DHA.

Does anyone want to comment why Fish Oil shouldn't be taken at night? I've read some people say it causes insomnia, but does anyone know why?

I've been taking a combo of GLA/DHA for a few days. (460 GLA/500 DHA) I definetely feel somewhat stimulated a few after taking it and I'm wondering why...

I took 9 (yes) grams a day for about 45 days. It was a good pharmaceutical grade brand, but I don't remember the EPA/DHA ratio. Did not have any problems with stimulation. Some diarrhea, though.

It did not help me at all. But I am in an extremely severe (incapacitating) depression triggered by having been prescribed an ADD drug which, unbeknownst to me, was an amphetimine which caused a horrific relapse of manic depression that had been in total remmision for 13-1/2 years. The depression part of this nightmare began in November 2002 and continues today, over 3 years later despite dozens and dozens of treatments conventional and alternative. So, I am in a highly atypical situation which hopefully won't discourage anyone from trying fish oil.

What is it about an ADD med that could cause such a unremitting TRD severe depression?

If an ADD med would be causing a reaction like this to somebody, then lawsuits should start being filed to whatever company produces whatever ADD med the poster took.

Apparently, the med that she took should be taken off the market if it has the potential to cause severe TRD depression as a side effect. It is 'not' normal for even a bipolar to have unremitting depression from just taking an ADD med.

Larry Hoover, Linkadge, or somebody, could you give some input or knowledge on this issue?

Spector, I'm sorry you've been going through this. I hope someone finds a treatment for you one day
...and that whatever Snotball produces the ADD med that you took gets his *ss a lawsuit filed against him. Excuse my language, Dr. Bob, but these severe TRD reactions SHOULD NEVER happen as a side effect.

I had a similar issue with my bipolar when I took Geodon. It permanently worsened due to a bad reaction from the drug even long after I was off it.
