Hi Declan and any other fellow Aussies,
I ordered tryptophan amongst other suppsfrom a US company. I received everything except the tryptophan.. just my luck when I'm feeling like I need to try it!Anyway my story is on here. I'm having a LOT of difficulty with typos these days and its taking me hours and hours to write anything!

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any difficulties or if they got their tryptophan thru OK?

Congrats on getting the Tryptophan. I live in UK and am considering buying some and Kava Kava. I spoke to some one at iherb and they said I must check with customs to see if they are allowed to be imported as I may lose the order.
I know Kava Kava is definitely banned in England and Wales I checked the UK Food Administration web site. Imports are banned so I was going to use qhi but I'm disappointed to hear someone tried the qhi tryptophan and it wasn't effective.
The ban on Kava is rediculous. Tryptophan I can understand initially why the ban was put in place but surely it can be lifted after 16 years! Diazepam and Zyban easily fall in to the criteria for a ban as do many other prescription drugs, based on how they banned Kava. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) surely must be banned if Kava is banned, it kills many people from liver damage every year.
I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I can easily imagine the reason for Kava and Tryptophan is that drug companies put pressure on Governments to ban the products, they don't want effective alternatives to their products. The reason for the bans makes a mockery out of science.

Nolvas...I had some tryptophan from qhi too and it didnt help but that doesnt mean it was THEIR particular brand that was no good, its probably more a case of tryptophan not helping me.
If I could get some of the pure powder easily in the UK like the US guys can, I'd probably be willing to give it another trial though just to be sure.

I'm going to call or email QHI and see if they will send Kava Kava to me. They have a standardised extract and the last time I tried Kava it was some rubbish from Holland and Barrett a few years ago.
I've used qhi before for other products and they were fine so fingers crossed they can ship to me and some how get around the import ban on kava.
I'm tempted to order Tryptophan from iherb.com. iherb state that if customs stop the import and send it back then you will get refunded but it works out once they've levied fees in the end to something like 50% of the value.
Maybe I'll go looking in the horse section in the pet food shops it's not illegal for them to consume hehe.

Thanks for the congrats.
I can sure notice the tryptophan.. not sure if I'll like it overall as yet.. but I notice it..even at only 1/2 capful a day!
I tried 500mg the first night..and 250mg last night. Got a sore tummy and some flatuence.. bit of burping etc the first morning as well; . also appetite suppressing effect.I think I feel a bit less anxious and not caring about everything so much as well. It also made me really sleepy about 1 1/2 hrs after taking it..which reminds.. I should have taken it a couple of hours ago :-)
The first morning after taking it the previous night I even felt great and more energy... not sure if that is going to be lasting though as I didn't sleep as long last night.
IT hasn't stopped my tenseness or teeth grinding as yet. Still its early days. I do think it will probably taper off in effectiveness..a poop out thing as receptors get downregulated though.Did anyone else find this with tryptophan?
------------------------Some folk here seem to really like Kava.
I've tried it and it didn't seem to have that much of an effect on me. Alcohol is way stronger for me:-).
The guys I was drinking it with who also weren't used to it all spewed though :-) The ones who have had it a few times aren't as affected.
It did make my night vision great though..and it makes me very thirsty.. and able to beat my son playing 8-ball as he gets more affected by it.. until I get to the last ball and remember anyway ;-)
I drank a couple of cups before flying the London once with the idea it would make me sleep thru the trip.. instead it just made me really really thirsty, sighI started trying to write up what I knew about Kava.. but I haven't finished it as yet.
Still you might get something out of it..

>Yep, TJ was the person I was talking about in my blog,if I remember, who tried QHI tablets.. not the powder or capsules form.
I noticed similar with tyrosine TABLETS having no effect, and yet powder working. I suspected the fillers/binders interfering in some way... though maybe I'd learnt how important the timimg and taking on an empty stomach etc was by then.Still it may work for others.. or for some it could be that they already have enough tryptophan..so taking more will have no effect.
