niacinamide helps, but...

I need some more oomph. Here's the deal: now that I've hit up the 5-6 grams a day of niacinamide, my quasi-psychosis has calmed down a notch and my paranoia has cooled a good deal. "Depression," or...apathy, I guess, would be a better word, seems to be becoming more problematic, though. I can't tell if its just exhaustion after a long, long time spent agitated (not that the agitation is GONE--still around, just not as pronounced) OR if its secondary to the niacinamide. But..niacinamide is supposed to be helpful for depression, especially for neurotic highly agitated depressives (ding ding----winner on both counts, here).
So maybe I have some kind of bipolar deal going on? I don't know. I need to continue to curb the agitation while also dealing with the apathy and weird sleep (mostly hypersomnia lately).
I'm not really considering meds beyond an as-needed BZD, unless there really is something equally non-toxic and effective, then I'd consider it. I thought about as-needed neuroleptics, but I figure that I might as well keep it simple with as-needed BZDs and/or herbs/vitamins; no need to mess with dopamine.
Here are some of my thoughts: up all my "b" vitamins...add in passionflower or valerian (valerian made me stupid back in the day, but...Id try it again)...add in lots of "c"..
beyond those ideas, I've got nothing. Anyone have hints/suggestions/experiences?

Thanks in advance.

you might get some ideas from my nighttime formula. I take about 1 gram each of Taurine, Inositol, Quercetin, Magnesium and Valerian.
The effect is synergistic from all the ingredients together. I get a huge sense of relief when i lay down in bed about 30 minutes after ingesting. I don't take it durring the day because I need mental alertness, but it may give you some ideas.

Are you hitting up glutamate transmission at all?

Magnesium, low-dose lithium. Perhaps even a therapeutic dose of an anticonvulsant.

So niacinamide is inducing apathy, hypersomnia, etc. Not surprising at all, because it works like a benzodiazepine. I'm sure tolerance and withdrawal can occur as well. I don't understand why people think they will be different on this area of niacinamide's action. It's great you're getting use out of it -- this is just something you should know.
