Zinc and Selenium for hair loss

Posted by Maxime on November 27, 2009, at 18:45:40

Hi

My anorexia is causing me to lose my hair. I used to take zinc and selenium to help in that area but I can't remember the dosages.

Does anyone here know what dosage of each I should take?

Thank you.

I personally experienced hair loss when my Ferritin levels were virtually nil. Don't know about zinc and selenium dosages, but in my case, 4 - 5 infusions of ferritin did the trick. Good luck. GW

Thank you. I am sure that my feritin levels are low. I am sure that I am low on a lot of things from my anorexia. I will look into it! Thanks!

If you do end up getting ferritin infusions, it takes about 2 months after they are finished for the hair to stop falling out. Good luck. GW

I haven't heard of those. What arte they..any links?
I had iron injections, but they didn't really help, and my ferritin was slow to rise. I suspect that lactoferrin helped in the end. The iron, although it did gradually increase my ferritin, it did create a huge lot of oxidation and all problems accosciated...as I guess is expected now I know how it works!

They gave me 4 or 5 IVs of iron.
