Anyone know a soothing natural sleep aid?

Posted by Lamdage22 on September 27, 2012, at 1:59:11

Hello,

my mother has a very rough time digesting my past rape and my feelings toward my father.

Im giving her 200-300 mg 5-htp at night and as of now 200mg Sam-E in the morning. Sam-E also for horrendous back pain she suffers from. Is that good?

The 5-htp helps, but id like to find something as needed to hit the hay and have smooth sleep.

Thank you very much,

Julian

(I wish i could get my Hunk20 name back)

Chamomile might help. You can get it in tincture, tea, or capsule form.

Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime herbal tea. It has chamomile in it.

Chamomile is VERY mild. It might work if you have low-grade anxiety when getting to sleep, but it never did much for me. The only thing that ha worked consistently for me has been melatonin. Just 1mg is enough. Too much and it actually makes me restless. Other substances that have worked in the past include Taurine, GABA, and magnesium.

Also, there's valerian root. It possesses sedative & anxiolytic effects.

MELATONIN
Or Hops, but NOT if you suffer from depression as hops can worsen it.
