It may be embarassing but you need to tell your psychiatrist. Probably a psychiatrist, not a general practitioner or therapist. There are many possibilities, I'm sure, including OCD for example. No one can diagnose online.

But there are medications that can help you. There are many good medications for OCD, if that is appropriate, or there are low dose antipsychotics, if that would help. They're pretty good too for recurring thoughts.

No need to be embarassed, *at all*. Your psychiatrist will have heard a heck of a lot worse. You haven't done anything. You've just had thoughts. And thoughts, however frightening, never hurt anyone.

So take a deep breath and make a phone call to your psychiatrist if you have one, or to your g.p. for a referral to a psychiatrist if you don't.

Don't worry about embarassment. Thoughts are just thoughts.

But do get help from a psychiatrist. With medications to help, there is no reason to suffer one minute longer than you need to. You're just hurting yourself by letting embarassment stand in your way.

during manic episodes, I am extremely hypersexual and often fantasize about sex with other people. You don't 'sound' manic so I'm guessing something else is at work here, and I strongly suggest you get help from a shrink. there are meds that help with these types of intruding thoughts, and will make you feel more in control. please take care of yourself and let us know how it works out.- judy

Hi Fallen Angel, it sounds like you are in a lot of pain right now. Having these unwanted thoughts is a symptom of OCD and does not mean you are crazy, or evil, or perverted. These thoughts will probably be even more prominent if you try to suppress them so I would try to use a form of relaxation or breathing technique to cope with them rather than try to stop them. You have nothing to be embarassed about and I think if you bring this up to your T you will be surprised and comforted to realize that this is not abnormal and that you are OK. When you told me this I did not think that there was anything sick about what you told. This is a part of OCD and medication can help treat this. Please do not feel ashamed. You are not alone and by talking to your therapist (Maybe just start by talking about having thoughts that are uncomfortable for you) you will be able to get the help to cope with these thoughts. Hope it goes well for you.

You're not alone with scary socially-unacceptable thoughts.

According to my p-doc sometimes anxiety can make you have these kinds of thoughts. I used to be plagued by thoughs of hurting people and myself, ripping heads off, slashing them with knives ... no matter how cute or nice, the thoughts just came. They weren't something that I WANTED to do ... it just happened. Perhaps because I was so anxious my brain kept comming up with the worse possible scenario or action.

You should definately talk about your doctor ... there are most likely ways to overcome those thought patterns.
