2 pm fatigue

Anyone have an idea about a mental carousel of depression and GAD with a by-the-clock crashing fatigue at 2pm each and everyday?

Thanks for the thought, Antigua, but chest palpitations sent me off Effexor (having four hellish weeks of withdrawal). After trying most SSRIs and Wellbutrin and having limited results, I'm starting a trial of Selegeline and phenylalanine. What I'm really trying to figure out is the origin of this life-long 2pm crash. I mean--what might it point to and from there, how might I resolve it. I've been looking at PTSD as a possible source. Or maybe adrenal dysfunction. Or is it Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? To me it feels like the depression is a result of the fatigue and not vice versa.

I apologize for being so flip w/your 2 p.m. crash. I just meant that effexor totally wipes me out every afternoon. Some days I get that nap and others I just have to pull through it. If the effexor didn't work so well I would change the drug, but for now it works well except for the excessive sleepiness.

You certainly may be right that there is something behind the 2 p.m. time period. My difficult time is very early in the a.m. (4ish). I find that I often awake at that time with my body pounding w/fear. Or I have nightmares that just coincidentally wake me at that time. I have a much better idea now of what it all means, so maybe you could look to your past (if you suspect PTSD) and try to figure out what was going on in the afternoons when you were young. I just kind of let my mind float while I think to see where it takes me.
good luck,
antigua
