I need hugs, went to the emgerency room

Posted by happyflower on December 6, 2005, at 13:45:35

I have a big owie on my face. I was making sausage gravy for my DH birthday this morning breakfast and when I tried to transfer the hot gravy to the bowl, the pan was heavier than I thought, and if feel on the floor and the gravy splashed on half my face. They had to check to see if my eye was burned, lucky it was not, it got my eyelid though. The doc. said it was a 1st degree almost 2nd degree if I wouldn't of treated it with a bag of broccoli right away. So they have me some pain salve and viodin for the pain. Now half my face looks like a sunburn.
They said I shouldn't scar. Burns hurt!
I was trying to be nice to my DH and I get burnt again, how ironic.

Poor you! And thank goodness for frozen broccoli. It has so many uses…

I’m very glad your eye wasn’t burned and that you won’t scar.

And I do hope you get plenty of sympathy because burns really are painful. I recommend taking it easy and letting other people do things for you, if possible!

Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Oh, OUCH!!!! I once splashed my wrist with melted butter and though I'd die it hurt so much.
Another time, I poured boiling water over my hand but my reaction was immediate - I ran cold water on it and all I had was a slight sun burn type burn. I think that was because it was winter and -20C outside, so the water was very cold.

So glad you thought fast and used the broccoli!

Youch! Know how you feel, I stuck my eyelid together once while making spun sugar (toffee like stuff) burnies.

Lots of little butterfly kisses to make it all better and a big safe hug.

It's a good thing you thought quickly to minimize the damage.

Burns can hurt like the dickens. I hope the meds they gave you are working. :(

I am feeling a little better, the Vicodin kicked in and the swelling went down. I am glad I took 1st aid and knew to put ice or something cold on it, my DH wanted to put butter on it. I knew that was wrong, he should of too since he took 1st aide with me years ago.
I am just glad I did it right away, or I would have had blisters the doc said.
Thanks for all the hugs and caring! My kids have been hugging me all day and stuggeling with me. They even did the dishes and made dinner! LOL :)

He took me to the emergency room and went and got me my Vicodin at Wallgreens and bought me my favorite candy bar, a Butterfinger.

The look in his eyes when the doctor wanted to do an eye exam because they thought I burnt my cornea, he seemed really to be worried about me. I told him he didn't have to wait with me at the emergency room, that I could call him when they released me. But he stayed and even touched me like he cared. I haven't seen the caring look in his eyes for months.

Oh - I hope you are feeling better. Is it burning a lot?

I am glad you won't scar and you didn't burn your eyes.

Next time when you cook - don't think of your T :-) :-)

Wow, Happyflower, that’s quite something. Shame you had to be burned to see it, but good to see nevertheless…

He probably thought my DH hit me or something. I said good morning back to him and quickly got on a machine. I tried to hide all the bandaides on my face with my hair. I know he saw it and he was walking around in circles thinking
, I think he wanted to ask me what happenend, but then he was worried what the answer would be an d was worried about being confidential. I could tell he was struggling with what he wanted to do, he kept looking at me and looking away. Maybe I should I said something to him I don't want him to worry about me.

But I was a little embarrest on how aweful I looked, and I didn't want him to see me that way. But now I am concerned he is thinking the worse. Well maybe I will see him again soon. If not my session is in a week.

"stuggeling"?

For the life of me, I can't figure out what you might have meant. LOL.

SO glad they're being sweet. I think they're being sweet, that is.
