I'm being more cautious in choosing a new therapist. There's not too much to go by, but you can look up their license to verify and see if they had any disciplinary actions. The patient rating systems online are not helpful at all. Angie's list now includes doctors, but I can't afford the fee; I am not sure if it would be that useful anyway.
So I decided to look up my last PDoc too. Why would a psychiatrist go to school and do his residency on the east coast, but then go to CA to get his license, then go back to the east coast to open his practice? Any ideas?
Maybe it is nothing, maybe he did his psychoanalytical training there..I wouldn't know. They have that here though. Just wondering.

Garnet good to see you back. Could it be he just didn't like California? I've paid for that info once and didn't learn a thing. Phillipa

Hey there, Phillipa-it's always nice to see you too!
You shouldn't have to pay to verify a license-those services are available through the state's websites. Just wanted to let you know. :(
I've just been in a state of hypervigilance the last few weeks...questioning everyone-not trusting; It's been years since I had felt this way and I hate being this way. New doctor triggered PTSD....it sux. Just dealing the best way i can.
Talk to you soon :)

Well each state has their own website...CA, for example:
http://www.medbd.ca.gov/lookup.html
My state provides verification under the "department of state". I guess each state is different; CA seems liberal..other states, log on to their website to find infor. so you can avoid the 'pay sites'...
