My pdoc swore today!

Posted by Deneb on March 10, 2010, at 1:46:54

My pdoc said b*llsh*t! lol

I don't know what to think.

She also looked like she was about to cry at one point when I was talking about my Mom.

Pdoc is human.

I wonder if I hurt pdoc sometimes?

You said your pdoc swore today but then put "lol". So I am not sure if it something that is bothering you or you just wanted to share it. My old T never swore but towards the end she did a few times and I was disappointed in her as I had her on a pedastal.

Next time you see her say"You looked sad when I was talking about my mother last time. What were you feeling"?

Oh I am not upset, just amused. I just wanted to share it. I actually thought it was kind of cute.

I should ask pdoc about why she looked sad.

I like it when my therapist does something real, so I understand that new facet of her personality is interesting and funny.

The first time my therapist swore, it was perhaps a bit too early in the therapy and it felt sort of forced. Like he was giving me permission to swear if I wanted. Like it was a technique he used to set clients at ease. It's nice that your pdoc waited until she felt like swearing. :)

It's entirely fair (in my therapy at least) to ask a therapist about her in session reactions. Knowing why she felt sad, or perhaps not sad precisely but definitely affected, might even help you understand your relationship with your mother better. At least I've found it so. Having my therapist explain his reactions helps me find a new perspective.
