Is there "anything" you do on a regular basis that has proven to help improve your quality of life? I see alot of stuff on the internet of things a person can do to help with depression for example and I was wondering if there are any success stories for any kind of psychological problem here besides pscyhotherapy. Or in conjunction with psychotherapy. Thanks.

AA, DBT, meditation and, above all, anti-depressant medication (in my case, Parnate, an MAOI). These all helped with depression.

Definately challenging my thoughts. And...Exercise (Very important), eating well, trying to get sleep. Regular routine. Those things help me. And being around positive people.

besides what people said above, regularity of routine, sleep, good food, walking, let's see....
handwork--knitting, sewing, gardening
being in nature (very good for me)
talking with good friends (I have a few I can trust)
getting out with other friends (ones that don't know about ME) (that is, going against my strong urge to withdraw)
volunteering at my son's school (not in the classroom--oh dear, no!)
reading something informative--and if need be, something non-triggering when that can be found (and sometimes that's difficult)
Umm. I know this sounds so staid-middle class, but cleaning or feng shui-ing my living space
rnny, what do you like to do?

there's heaps of things.
I would advise my younger self to avoid psychiatrists, though not therapists.
I would have been better off doing martial arts, or something that made my body (if not my mind) feel better. Pilates, rock climbing, Feldenkrais, any of that stuff, gyrotonics is the latest thing where I live...you can do 2 hours a week for 2 years and never repeat yourself.
This is the end of the thread.
