Nightmares....

Posted by Krazy Kat on November 5, 2001, at 16:42:54

O.K., they're getting worse and worse. The one last night was SO bad, I can't even think about it without almost vomitting. The thing is, it's every freakin' night, too.

Is there a med for helping this? They are so far removed from society's acceptable nightmare subjects...

Am I going to have to talk to someone about this? Who would I talk to? How could I reveal these?

Kat, Kat, Kat.....

What HAVE you been getting into with these nightmares? OK, I gave you my Freudian spin earlier, now let's consider pharmaological causalities.

Have you stopped, started, increased, decreased etc... any med lately? Has this ever happened to you before, if so, when and why?

That your dreams are "taboo" as you call them seems to me to be the crux of the issue. Afterall, we (most?) all have an occasional weird dream or nightmare. However, the extreme which you suggest (and I guess even THIS is not the forum to discuss particulars) give me the impression that there is some MAJOR event going on with you (or your life)that you must somehow be repressing rather than confronting.

Yes, by all means, go talk to someone that is paid to listen to weird stuff (not that I'm not morbidly curious about it). Get them to help sort it out for you. It is obviously very troubling to you, and as such, is affecting your life quality.

Pax:

Yes, a lot is unsettled in my life right now - thanks for pointing that connection out.

I am trying Kazoo's suggestion of "being in control" during the dreams in order to end them.

I have marriage counseling next week with a priest (and my husband of course), so we'll see if getting started on that helps.

I just wonder why I have always had trouble with nightmares, and some people never have any at all.

Thanks for your comments!
