On the back of a book of Jackson's collected stories, she was described as "a troubled woman-
addicted to drinking, smoking, amphetamines, and chocolate. Afflicted by weight and health problems, in later years she was increasingly afraid to leave her house."
Now all I have to do is wait for 'the famous writer' part to happen, and I'm all set!

She was terrific! Wrote the funniest book . . Life Among the Savages. .

My favorite is "We Have Always Lived In The Castle", supposed to be "a studied and compelling rendering of insanity", the spookiest part is that I kept thinking, when I was reading the story, what's so insane about that? Sounds kind of nice to me...
