Beads, pretty pretty beads

Got a bunch of strands to make stretch-bracelets. Sparkly blues and greens and smoky grays... with accents of aqua glass cubes and red chunkies. Yummy yum!

Tabitha!!

I love working with beads. I made a bracelet for my grandmother and my aunt for Christmas. I used beads and charms. (I am planning ahead, yes.) I also have made a few Rosaries for people as well.

Even though beads are so expensive, I get some much comfort from creating beautiful things.

Enjoy your beads. Let me know what you have created. I have "surfed" a bit. There are tons of websites devoted to beads and ideas for creations, if you get stuck on what to odo. That happens to me a lot because I tend to buy beads that catch my eye, not beads with a purpose!!!

Oh no, I think your mind/body balance is definitely affected when you look so purty! When we were little, my uncle had a gem polishing machine...there's nothing like holding a fistful of shiny polished clinky hematites in your hand...clink clink clink
I used to keep a bigger one in my car years ago. I would hold onto it when I got stressed...

Hi Miller, so nice to see you posting. I drive about 40 minutes to this bead store. They have it all organized by color. The beads are all hanging in hanks or else in little bins so you can touch them. Of course the trouble is getting out with your wallet intact. I avoid the real crystals (too expensive) but can't resist all the faceted glass beads.

I just strung all the new beads on stretch wire and made close-fitting braclets, so with the 5 strands together it's like a cuff bracelet.

Funny you mention charms. I just recently got out my old charm bracelet from childhood-- it's sterling with big chunky charms. I was thinking of beefing it up with some approximately charm-sized things that have been sitting unworn in my jewelry box-- a gold locket, a silver conch shell pendant, maybe even some rings. I wanted to find big chunky glass beads and add some color to it as well. I guess it's symbolic of getting back in touch with my young self-- integrating the adult life with it. One of the charms even has the date 1976 on it so it really has a feeling of history to me.

Tabitha,

Thank you for welcoming me back. I have a tendancy to isolate myself when I am down. I read some posts, but find the energy for that hard as well.

Beads... I went to the state fair last week and saw a hemitite (I don't think that is spelled right) necklace with all the same size beads and a crucifix. I was only $3. I bought two just for the beads and for the crosses. That was a bargain. Now I wish I would have bought more.

I am into the pink beads right now. I made two charm bracelets for myself. One has all my "love things on it. Mickey Mouse, Kitties, a beach ball, a book, etc. The Other is more religious. I put a miraculous medal, a cross, a crucifix, a Madonna, and a medal of Saint Rita on it.

This weekend I was thinking of making one with all my favorite colors. I have a feeling it will end up being all shades of pink!!!

The bead store I go to has so many charms, it is unbelievable. It was easy to find six or so to fit each person. They also had charls that say "made with love". Anyway, I have spent TONS of money on beads. Some are just because they caught my eye. I haven't found usues for them all yet. I may never. But I love them. :)

Let me know what you do with yours. Thanks again for being nice to me. I appreciate it. :)

Miller, I guess I'm the opposite, I post a lot more when down. So I'm now extra-glad you're posting, since it also must mean you're feeling better.

I like your theme charm bracelet idea. I thought about that, but for now I've just been glomming all of them onto one bracelet. I put spring rings on all the charms so I can rearrange them easily. I've even got gold and silver mixed (taboo!). I was searching the net for vintage charm bracelets, there are some nice ones-- they can go for several hundred dollars.

Happy beading/charming!

Phyl is looking for you over on psycho babble. I also wanted to say hello, and tell you I hope your offer still stands when I can muster up enough courage to take you up on it. Glad to see you posting.

Of course my offer still stands. It will always stand as long as you may need my help. Thanks for letting me know about Phyl.

Also, let me know if you need my email addy again.

Just to let you know, I was stuck in a job where morals or ethics weren't evident in anything they did. I was miserable. I was scared to leave because, if nothing else, their business was booming. I did send out my resume. I am now working at a place where ethics and respect are top priority. It was worth the anxiety. Take the plunge.

Hi Miller,
I've bookmarked your address, but if I can't find it I'll let you know.

For me it's about starting rather than changing. I have such issues with believing I can do anything that it's keeping me from, well-- doing anything.

And yet I do believe that nothing is going to make me feel better until I start doing it. The discomfort designed to keep on giving.

Thank you for keeping the offer open--I'm working up to it.
