It's been ages since I've played any instrument (I play guitar, bass, drums, and a bit of piano) so today when I managed to come across $45 that was just spending money, I decided to check out the pawn shops, hoping to find a nice guitar.
Long story short, I got a great sounding acoustic guitar (Harmony brand) and I even haggled to get the guy to lower the price from $45 to $35, which left me some money to buy new strings and a few guitar picks. :-)
Oh my gods, it's so wonderful to be playing again (though my poor now non-calloused fingers would say otherwise, lol)! Nothing in the world, to me, is more therapeutic than song-writing.
I'm sure there are others here who feel the same way... I'd very much enjoy talking to some fellow musicians. :-)

I thought I'd plug my website in here once more, since I'm not sure if many people checked it out last time I posted it and I *really* would like some more opinions. It's taking a lot of courage for me to do this, so please, please listen to my music, lol!
All of the songs posted currently are Beatles songs that I've redone at home using my old Korg digital-8-track recorder. They were all done about four or five years ago, but they don't sound *that* bad (at least I hope not :-/ ). The ones posted right now are "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away", "Michelle", "Eleanor Rigby", "Strawberry Fields", and "A Day in the Life". I have a dozen others that I'm also going to post, but I can only put up five at a time due to limited space on my site. All the songs are streaming mp3's, so you don't have to worry about downloading them.
I hate to beg, but I really would like some more honest opinions! :-)

Guitars are wonderful.
I play Girl Scout Camp Songs on mine. I play just well enough to play at camp. The first time I was in the hospital I met a girl who had been a Girl Scout. I was in the day program, so I went home at night and brought my guitar in. We had such a good time. I also played for the whole group occasionally.
The second time (7 years later) I went in the hospital I brought my guitar, and it turned out to be the most effective calming mechanism that I had.
I don't play it at home. I don't know why. I probably should!

Awesome! I remeber when I first bought my guitar.....one of the happiest days of my life. I'm not good at it, but it rocks! Mine is an acoustic guitar. Enjoy your new guitar!!
