I am sure glad I have found this forum! I have been on Celexa for about 4 years now. When I started it, I had no side effects and all my symptoms of obsessive thinking removed. It still is very effective for me but I have over the past 3 years been noticing a creeping weight gain for no reason. I exercise 5 days a week very aggressively, weight lift 4 days as well. The weight just seemed jump on me; I would gain 1-2 lbs. in a day and then a couple more the next week. I then try to not eat as much, and slowly it would drift back down.
Well, now I am at the point where it isn't coming off and steadily rising again. I eat about 1200 cal. and zero sweets, refined sugars, etc. Still, I gain.
So my question is can Celexa be causing this? My doc said no and told me I am getting older. But gaining weight that fast isn't necessarily old age setting in. (I'm 40) I'm so depressed about it!
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi,
Most psychiatric meds are notorious for this. Maybe changing the med or lowering it could be an option. Try to do some research on Celexa, this is a good place to start. The Psycho-babble page has more info on this.
