I do feel sorry for new folks

Posted by noa on October 10, 2003, at 0:22:03

I'm not here very often, but I'm getting a sense of what's going on lately and I feel very sorry for (legitimate) new babblers.

I admit I'm not feeling very trusting toward new people myself and I imagine this mistrust is even greater in some other babblers who have been much more active on the boards than I have and therefore feel they've been deceived and hurt lately.

So, for those of you who are really, genuinely, authentically new arrivals to this board--Welcome and I hope you can weather this tough time.

Thank you for the support as a newbie. I came onto the boards at a bad time when people were hurting. I feel like I just poured salt on things even though I never, ever meant to.
Guess I'll just stay supportive and hope for people to feel better. All of this makes me feel sad and down even though I just registered Oct 1.

Thanks. noa. I feel sort of in-between. I'm not a newbie, and I'm not an old-timer. But I do feel grateful for your extended arms. It's been tough lately. But better the last couple of days, don't you think?

I came here a few weeks ago, thanks for the welcome!

I think I was oblivious to all the bad feelings until a couple of days ago, I wont say any more on that cos i dont really know what went on.

Anyway, I'm planning to stick around for a while on this great board with all you fab people so I might become an 'old-timer' yet!

Hi, guys.

I've been here 2 1/2 months. Not really a newbie, nowhere near some of the old timers. But no matter what you might think of the tension on these boards recently, *I* personally have found these boards to have many very-supportive people, people with great experience and wisdom, and people with very valuable knowledge that they are all willing to share.

In sum, you really can get a lot of support and compassion and help here. It's not perfect. Sometimes it's frustrating. But there are definitely some gems.

In my opinion, it's worth toughing it out for a bit. Good luck, and welcome!

Susan

To the old timers from a newbie

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to say that I do have a pretty good idea of what's been going on around here recently, (it's kind of hard to miss on all the posts) and I want to make it clear that I am just here to possibly make some friends and learn as much as I can about mental health as a whole. I am not currently sucidal nor will I ever be. Also I haven't played mind games with people since I was 13/14 years old (admittedly I went through a phase then) and I know what it feels like to have people play games with you so because of my very short phase as a kid I have grown up to be a very empathic person. Okay well I just wanted to put that out there and I apologize if I am re-opening wounds I certainly have no intention of doing that. So as a newcomer joining at such a trying time for all of you I just wanted to let you all know that I'm honest and I care about people and now I am just as suspicous of other people as all of you. So thanks for listening.

Hi..
Thank you for this post...
i've been here for a month or a little more...
and I understand that with all that has happened those who were hurt will find it hard to trust new posters..
I do believe eventually the truth always shows, and fortunately there are lots of honest, sincere people who just want to give and share support...
trusting again takes time when your trust has been betrayed.

Thank you for your post... :o)

just wanted to say I Understand.. I'll try to hang on to what I can give from my heart, to the truth and to trying to help others feel safe if I can...

lots of healing,
Adia.
