Really bummed....

Posted by jay on January 7, 2004, at 10:16:26

Hey folks...I don't know if anyone cares to listen, but I gotta get this off my chest. You may have seen on the news, over New Years Eve somebody I know and is very popular got into a fight with the cops and security at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples Florida. He got beaten up really bad, has been charged with a few felony's, *but*, he is claiming the police used excessive force and is preparing to sue them. But, all in all, innocent until proven guilty, right? I've even set up a petition online to the Naples' Sheriff's office stating we as fans and people who know him support him 100 percent. This guy's character is solid, especially for a rock star, and he has *never* been charged with anything (besides a few speeding tickets.)
Now...here is the story (and footage) of him after spending the night in jail. His nose was broken, and splattered blood all over his Tux shirt, as you will see.

He is also an Order of Canada recipient, which is Canada's equal to being Knighted by the Queen of England. If you knew him personally, this would *totally* shock you. But, to some people, the police are ALWAYS right, and I am "evil" for putting up a petition not only to support Alex, but asking the Sheriff's office in Naples for a complete and accurate account of the situation, (Which they still not have done...no witnesses interviewed..nadda.)

Sorry...just had to get that off my chest....thanks.

Jay

I doubt any of us can really comment, as I doubt any of us were actually there to witness what happened.

My husband is a hard working, respectful, honest man.. he doesn't even have speeding tickets.. But he does have a conviction for ABH (Actual Bodily Harm).. one man hit him, he he attacked back.. He is a real peace loving person, but very few people are like that for 100% of their lives.. Its always a big shock to people who know my husband when they find out about his conviction.

What I'm saying is, without being there, you can't say that this guy from Rush did nothing..

Giving someone you support is one thing, but I don't think you can call him innocent and that the police just beat him up for no reason yet.

Thanks Nikki...I feel I am getting better perspective because you are a great listener, and sincere. I was thinking, there are three sides to every story...one persons, another's, and in the middle, the grey area, the truth.

Hope you have a good day..:-)

Sorry.. sorry.. My reply was a little agressive.

I gave up smoking on monday night and finding it sooo tough and I keep getting really... not angry, just.. oh, whats the word.. aggresive!! *laughing*

But.. what I said is true.. I've seen even the most peaceful of people get agressive and fight when drunk and provoked.

You take care, and lets hope this guy gets everything sorted with no problems.

Nikki
