Love to golf, but I suck at it and I am too socially avoidant and phobic to take lessons because that would require small talk which I am extremely poor at. Plus I wouldn't be able not to frown and not look extremely depressed for one whole half hour of my life...would be a record. Don't need any more people in this world hating me as I constantly live over and over all the bad interactions I have had going back at least 20 years.

BTW, anyone know how to start the downswing, and keep the clubshaft on plane thoughout the swing and keep the hips rotating?

The only way I know of to get in the groove of the swing is to keep hitting balls. I can really understand about your fears of interaction. Maybe one way to overcome that is to realize you're paying the golf pro for a lesson, not chit chat. If you keep the pro focused on your lesson (which is the point of paying him), maybe that will relieve some of the anxiety.
