Ok, the system sucks but I like my pdoc and Babble

Posted by socialdeviantjeff on March 20, 2004, at 3:22:12

Well, I maintain that the state of healthcare in UT is tyrannical at best.

In all of this muck and mire, I have to say that after 7-8 months of drug trial and error we finally got some good work done. I have to say that given my reactions, I wouldn't have trusted anyone else with my treatment.

fairly solid diagnosis:
Generalized anxiety Disorder, Major depression with psychotic features, Dysthemia, Borderline Disorder. Comorbidity of these is pretty rare, but that's me. I'm pretty complicated.

I'm finally responding to treatment with the Zyprexa. I'm basically close to the level I was at before all of the AD and Mood stabilizer foibles. Far from remission, but feeling better than I have in months.

Jay, Tinydancer, Ilene, KK, Kid47, All Done, Elle2021, Fallen4myT, Diedrehrt, Fallsfall, Poet, Sebastian, JYL, Happygirl and all the rest in Babble et al (Can't type all the names, way too many :) ) are in my thoughts and I wish the best for all of you.

Hi SDJeff,

Congrats on finding the right Pdoc/meds combination. It shows your strength, that despite the system, you don't give up.

Thanks, Poet.

I'm still working on getting SSDI. My doc can't keep me on samples forever, right?

It's hard to look at it as not giving up. I just try to remind myself that doing this will give me access to things I don't have access to right now and gives me the best chance at living normally in the long term. I dont' plan on staying in the system forever. No fun.

And yes, the Zyprexa is a lifesaver. I'm actually looking forward to what will happen with this med in the next month or so.

Well, I hope things are going well for you.

Thank you Jeff and I am glad you too like your Pdoc, for me I see a T and he is awesome and not all just cash...Meds I am cool on cause my family doc gives them and just old fashion benzos and a sleeping pill...well I am tapering off that one. YOU sound like you found the right meds as well as doc and hey..us :P

Jeff....so glad you are feeling better! Again, you know it will take time...some days better than others, etc. I sometimes find I have what I call "write-off days", where most goes wrong, and what I do is just stay on my meds, go to bed a bit early, and wait for the next day. Most of all, treat yourself with grace, kindness and love, and I find you will treat others like that too. IMHO...Zyprexa is a very excellent med, one very good for your diagnosis, as I found *all* other antipsychotics completely inferior to Zyprexa.

Best to you bud...
Jay

Name mention and all, eh? I'm honored :)

I'm so very, very, very, VERY happy that you are feeling so VERY much better. I always knew you had it in you. It seems to take a long time to finally find some sort of relief through a drug cocktail that works, but I'm glad you found what seems to work for you.

And if you ever need anything in the future, don't hesitate to drop a few words on the screen. You know I hang on to every word you say (or type, whatever). Take care of yourself and that lovely daughter who resembles her father so much.

It's very frustrating to read about the problems you have getting the healthcare you need. It could make the difference between dependency on someone else (your parents, the gov't) and working up to your capacity. I wish more taxpayers saw it this way.

I'm glad you feel like you're finally making progress w/ your meds. Makes me feel a little more hopeful myself.

I've been thinking about what you said in one of your other posts--about how hard it is to work, but how it also helps you feel like you're doing something for yourself. If the Zyprexa continues to help maybe you will find the decision to work/not work becoming clear. It's hard to know what's in your best interest when you are constantly stressed.

Hang in there.

Jeff,

I am so glad to see this post from you! How great that you're responding to the meds you're on and that you found some much needed support in your pdoc and Babble. I hope this lasts for a very long time.

Give your little sweetheart a big hug (I bet that does wonders for you, too) and take care!

All Done

Thanks for the shout out, Deviant. It looks like you're on the right path. I'm coming closer and closer to mine, but I don't think I'm on it yet...
I'll be keeping an eye on you, don't give up!

Thanks, folks! I go to a lot of messageboards but for some reason Babble has a special place in my heart. Hmmm... Must be the great people.

Regression sucks, but the last couple of days have been a bit tougher. Still fighting the good fight, though.

On the upside, I had 2 ER visits taken care of by the fact my income is below the poverty line. Big relief. Got the agent in charge of my case in trouble, too. Apparantly she said we had some conversations that we didn't have. I proved her wrong. We never talked, in fact, I tried to get a hold of her for over a month. Shewas making discriminatory remarks and assumming I can actually live off of kess than $30 a week. Now she is in some hot water for lying and for her remarks.
