Hey babblers, I want to tell you guys this slightly naughty thing I did last week when I was at a conference for work. Traveling alone for work is very hard for me. Often I can't eat or sleep on these trips, I'm so anxious.
So, at this conference, the whole second afternoon was scheduled for talks that were not directly relevant to my work. So I found a yoga class to take. It was at a spa, so when I was done, I got a pedicure. Hee hee hee. Instead of attending the conference that I was supposed to be at. Shhhh. Don't tell anyone. I've never had a pedicure before, and it was delicious. I can't stop looking at my beautiful toes.
That was the best business trip I've had in a while!

:-)
I won't tell.
Glad you had such a good time! I've only had a few pedicures in my life and when done right, they are great. (I have had a couple that didn't go so well, but essentially the axiom, "you get what you pay for" holds true in these cases).
BTW, if I were there at the secret spa 'detour' from your conference, I would have gone for the full body massage.

I'm so glad you did that! I'm enjoying just thinking about it. Someday soon I am going to break down and have one too. It's getting harder and harder to paint my own toesies!
First of all, it's not so easy to contort these old bones to get close enough to reach my toes. Then, I have to put on my reading glasses to SEE my toes. And to actually get the polish on to nail part, and not the cuticle, or the toe, or, heck, the dang ankle....well, it's just not as easy as it used to be.
Perhaps when the weather warms just a bit more, I'll endulge myself.

Oh, I hope you both get to have wonderful pedicures soon, too. This one was great. But I'll keep in mind your warning noa. I think more than the polish, was just the fact of someone pampering my *feet* which never get any attention, except when they have blisters. And I kind of hate them, because they're huge. So, it was a sort of self-accepting thing to do, too.

I had my first pedicure when I was on vacation over Christmas. It was awesome! I highly recommend it. In fact, now that it is getting warmer, I'm due.

Pedicures are the one luxury that I truly think are almost a necessity! I try to get one once a month if I can. My feet are way-y-y-y ticklish. the first one I had they practically had to sit on me, I was squirming so much. It is definitely money well spent. And the toes are so far away, you can get away with not getting them done too often, because you can't see all the chipped polish.
I live in a state where unpainted toes are considered almost a faux-pas (Florida).

I got my first pedicure on a vacation a number of years ago. The hotel had a nice spa. I got manicure and pedicure and a facial, as well as two massages and a mineral bath. The manicure was mediocre, but the pedicure (different esthetetician) was great. The massages were great, too, but that wasn't a new thing for me.
The next time I got a pedicure was fine. It was a last minute impulse before a trip where I'd be wearing open toe shoes the whole time (not Florida, but also someplace warm). It was at a cheap joint, and was ok. But a few months later, I got another one at another cheap place in another location, and it wasn't so good--they were a bit rough on my tootsies there.
The thing about pedicures is that the polish can last so much longer than with a manicure. Manicures are almost wasted money on me becuase I usually ruin them before I even get home from the salon! And the chipping starts within a day or two. But pedicures are more lasting. Hmmm...now that spring is coming and I'll have to make the transition from my boot-shoes to more open ones, maybe I will go get a pedicure soon.
I do need to get a massage. I would like to be able to get a regular massage at least a couple of times a month. Years ago, I did this when I lived in another city. It was great--after a while, some of my very stiff spots got worked through nicely. The trick is finding a good massage therapist and working out the money to afford it.

I get a massage once a month. It started one day when I was super stressed and called on a whim. I really like the therapist, and booked another one for the next month. My husband who is "fiscally responsible" if not cheap :), seems to agree that they help me and does not mind the expense.
What a treat! I can tell when I am due. In fact, with work stress lately, may move the next one up.

I used to get a massage every other week, but it's been ages now. Now I only go when I've totally kinked my neck or something. I did them for a while after therapy, but I've found that that just puts me in a really bad mood during my massage. Before is good, after is a bad idea.
My husband used to get a massage twice a week before his chiropractor appointments. So he can hardly complain when I get a little pedicure, right? (I tried for a massage last week, but the masseuse wasn't in)

I cannot rely on my reaction to a massage - it is either very bad or ectstatic. (I would not want to be caught in between.) My husband massages likes I am a poor cut of beef to be pummeled into submission. - I declne any offers there.
It completely depends on the skill and philosphy of the massuese (massuer). I actually hate coming around from a great massage, only to find that I ache more than before. I take a couple of Advil and chock it up to experience.
This is the end of the thread.
