Well, folks, I am *finally* feeling up to trying to get out a bit more and do something. I was looking around for different local groups that involve things I enjoy - children, animals, aquariums, music, books - and I discovered a community chorus right here in my town! It's pretty large (looks like about 75 people or so) and doesn't require an audition. It's been so long since I sang in a formal chorus setting (since college) that I don't really feel comfortable with auditioning, so that's good. The fee is reasonable - pays your 'dues' and for your t-shirt and then music is about $15. They have a summer, winter and spring season - you join anew each time. Practice is one night a week, and it's a night I can do, so I'm going to join! I'm quite excited about it!!! A woman in my department at work sang with them a few summers ago (they've been around nearly 25 years) and said it was a lot of fun and pretty low-key.
My therapist will be so proud. ;-)

That is great, Penny! I love singing, too (but I'm bad, so I usually don't). I think it's one of those things that just connects me straight to the core of everything somehow. I hope you have a great time!

Penny, that's terrific. I'll bet you have a great time.
I started obedience again with the pup. It used to be a big part of my life and I'm really excited about having some of the old me back. I wish I could say it was because I was feeling better, but the main reason is timing. I've got a puppy to do it with. (Although I am feeling better, too.)
She's smart as a whip. This is going to be fun.
I hope you have as much fun as I'm having. :)

This is just fantastic, Penny! I am so impressed!
My best friend just started taking singing lessons recently and she's having a blast with it. I bet you're going to have a great time, too. There's just something about singing that can make us happy (even those of us who can't carry a tune to save our lives :)). Keep us posted and have fun!!!
Take care,
All Done

I agree, way to go Penny! Singing makes me happy too, but I doubt it makes anyone else happy, cause I can't carry a tune in a paper sack. One day I hope to get up the courage to take voice lessons.
Enjoy the chorus. It sounds way cool.

Thanks, all!
I'm really really looking forward to getting back into an organized choral ensemble. Music is so much fun, whether you're singing it or listening to it. I also took piano for a brief period (a few years ago) and would like to get back into that, but one thing at a time, right?
