new and confused

Posted by mecol on June 2, 2004, at 10:56:13

I am new but I can not seem to get any responce from the newbie board or I am doing something wrong. I have been on "mood meds." for about 14 years and could sure use an outlet and advice. I could give advice as it might have happened to me, to someone. I am shy and not sure about doing a "chat thing" as this is all new to me. Thanks to all who are helping each other and your selves. The answer just might be in being together...

Hello, mecol - sorry for being alone on the newbie board - I haven't checked it in a while. This Social board is a great place for us Babblers to get to know each other.

Are you having a problem with your meds, or is it something else?

Hi mecol and welcome.

We'll be happy to "talk" to you. But be prepared for some randomness in number of posts. You might not always get a lot of replies, but then sometimes you'll probably get a lot. Probably the best way to get to know folks here is to start replying to posts. Then we'll recognize you when you make your own posts. It seems to help some, when we know a bit about each other's stories from reading each other's posts.

If you're having trouble with meds, you might also want to try posting to just plain Psycho Babble. That's the board about meds. If we start talking about meds here, Dr. Bob will probably redirect us to there anyway.

Nice to meet you! As you might have noticed, the newbie board is restricted to newcomers, so people who might want to respond might not be able to do so there. But here at Social, everyone is welcome. Don't feel at all shy jumping in on whatever threads interest you, or starting your own. There are no private conversations here.

Hi Mecol, glad you're here.
consider this your sounding board!
-i was unsure about posting as well, i think i spent about three months just monitoring the boards before i finally jumped in. I hadn't done this chat discussion before either. But i must say that it has been a Major "coping skill" for me, and has saved me from harm on a number of occasions, and sometimes it was from just listening to others. Please check out all the different boards here some may feel more comfortable to you at first. when i first came here i wanted answers about medications, that's how i first found this site, then i slowly moved to social, writings and psych that's where i usually hover.
Hope to see you around.
Best Wishes
B2c.

Hi mecol. I'm like B2chica, I started lurking for a while, then I finally started posting on the med board. Finally I got up the nerve to post here on social. No one really responded to my first post over here, but eventually people got to recognize my name and started chatting. You do have to give it time though. Sometimes it takes a couple of days for a response, but its usually sooner than that.

I know what its like to live with physical pain. I suffer from severe pelvic pain, maybe endometriosis. I have it under control for the time being. But there was a time not too long ago when I had to take codeine three times a day just to be able to work. Then when my doctors couldn't determine what was wrong with me, they decided I was a drug seeker. It was horrible. So I can understand how pain can wreck havic on your life. And from what I've heard, Fibro... (I don't rememeber how to spell it) is one of the most painful ongoing conditions a person can have. And I'm not sure what the MSSP thing is, but I'm guessing it has something to do with multiple sclorosis, which I've read is also extrememly painful. I truly feel for you and hope you are able to find a way to cope with it. Its just not fair that some people have to live with constant pain.

Please write us back and let us know how you are doing. We may not be able to help, but the support can work wonders.

forgot to mention, although i'm sure you've heard this 100 times but gotta mention it anyway. i have a very close friend that suffers from FM and two things have "worked" for her, biofeedback and a change in diet (basically like the atkins diet, low to no carb).
i say "worked" cuz she's never been pain free, there's always an underlying amount she lives with it's just weather or not it's tolerable.

i'm sure you've been told of these options, but had to mention them anyway...just incase.
FWIW.
