U.S. Hostage in Saudi Arabia Apparently Killed

God, I just can't handle this kind of thing.

Please say a prayer for his family. (nm)

Me neither. What kind of a race are we? Superior beings my foot.

God, it really does make me sick. If you are going to politically protest something, why do you have to *kill?* What happened to peaceful marches and rallies?

I seem surrounded with unwilling deaths these days. Maryland just executed a mass murderer last night at 9:18pm, and even though I despise what he did, it's difficult for me to know that State employees actually took that man's life away last night.

When I think at how horribly some human beings treat one another, it's almost unbearable to contemplate.

Sometimes I try a news ban on myself since I just get sickened by human behaviour, and then I think I'm trying to cushion myself or worse, be in denial of the world we must live in.

I remember growing up that my mum would turn off the t.v. whenever coverage of Viet Nam would be on. She said that I didn't need to learn about war. How sad that I believe every generation will be learning about war for the forseeable future.

I've thought about the ban on the news, but I'm so addicted to it. I dunno if it would work.

I wish I knew how to stop the god-awful violence. Even in just my own little world. But I have no idea how....

I hope every mom and dad out there gives their kid an extra hug or kiss tonight.

All I can think of is if all kids were enveloped with love and affection, far fewer would grow up to hurt like they've been hurt....

OK, that's it. Too depressing! How about if I wish that every single human in the universe had even *half* of the compassion all these Babblers here show one another. We'd be in utopia! :-)

I completely agree. This world needs Babblers as the leaders.

totally.

i put myself under news-restriction on september 11, 2001. i was in new haven ct, and too many people i knew were affected. too many friends in the city, too many people in my classes with relatives who did (or didn't) make it out in time. i was glued to CNN for days. i hardly slept.

it just depresses me. it makes me not want to be in this world any more because we can't play nice together.

someone's post about the MD execution also touched me (i'm sorry i can't think of names right now). one of the reasons i opted not to go into forensic science as a field was because i couldn't handle the thought that my career choice could force someone to live or die, because my science found them guilty or not guilty. what if i was wrong? what if i misread results? i don't know how i feel about the death penalty, but i dislike knowing that people have control over other people's lives.

sigh.

if i ran the world....

Maybe move to Grief board? (nm)
