Blocking yourself from PB

Hi guys...

I know some of you have been trying to get yourself banned from PB is an attempt to not be able to read and post here..

Well, there is a way without doing it that way.

This is the way to do it in Internet Explorer (IE).. I'm currently investigating how to do it in Netscape too..

Go to Tools menu

Select "Internet Options"

Click the "Security" tab

Then click the "Restricted Sites" picture (the red circle with white line through it)
nothing will change when you do this, but the "restricted sites" pic should be highlighted.

Then click the "sites" button

This will open another little window.

In the box below where it says "Add this website to the zone" put the full URL for the boards in (ie, http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/babble.html which is the frames version I use)
Then click "Add"

Then "OK"

Then "OK" on the next window too.

Then you shouldn't be able to connect to any content on PB.

Remember, if you use the non frames version, you will need to do this for each board.. so, say you wanted to just not see Psychology, Admin and PB, you could put in the URL for that specific board in (eg, http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/ to stop you accessing the admin board)

I hope this helps some of you.. Its a method I've used in the past when certain posters have got on top of me.

Let me know if you have any problems, and I'll try and help (computer problems that is *lol*).. I can do a pictoral version of this (with pictures of what each stage should look like) so if that helps, just shout my way

nikki: i posted this in admin but here is another method.

Here's how you can block yourself from dr-bob in Windows:

1. Launch Windows Explorer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows (or C:\Winnt ... depends on the version of Windows you are running)
3. Open the file named "Hosts" in Notepad or another text editor.
4. Add the following line to the bottom of your hosts file:
127.0.0.1 www.dr-bob.org
5. Save and close the file.

Voila, instant self-imposed block.
