Hope you don't mind me asking a med question..
You took luvox for 4 years..
I don't know whether to give it a go..does it alliviate depression..in your xperience.
I know its mainly used for OCD but did it lift you up a bit?
Thanks poppit I'm probably gotta ditch this suicidal thinking pill if it don't change>paxil .Luvox is the only ssri left-- I need an ssri for pmt probs.

It didn't lift me up precisely. It left me flat. From where I started (tearful, hysterical, suicidal, etc.) "flat" was a big step up. I remember after I had been on it a short time, one day I said "Hey, I'm not overstimulated!"
It definitely didn't make me happy or cheerful or anything really positive. But it did a pretty good job of reducing the negative feelings.
How's that for a mixed review?
But to end on a much more positive note, Luvox was one of the least offensive drugs I ever took. I'm usually supersensitive to meds and take microdoses, but at one point I was at the maximum Luvox dose and my doctor wanted to raise it even higher. For me, that's astonishing.

Thanks so much Dinah..
Flat would be ok..I don't want these intrusive thoughts anymore.
I see my doc in a week or two...if I still feel like this I'll suggest it.
I've increased my Neurontin just a little so I'm less plagued..

Intrusive thoughts you say?
Luvox was Fabulous for intrusive thoughts. I'm always plagued by intrusive thoughts (OCD), and if I had them on Luvox, I didn't even notice.
But no orgasms even on low dose and so little desire I didn't even care, so enjoy yourself while you can. Ummm... so to speak.

I haven't had a normal enjoyable orgasm for years since meds--thats if I get one.
All the others SSri's increased libido except celexa
I can live without sex for mind peace.

Wow. That's certainly an unusual response to SSRI's. Have your doctors explored the possibility of bipolar tendencies? The slightest hint of straight serotonin and my libido goes out the window.
Sigh. Wouldn't it be nice to be one of those people who respond easily to meds? My therapist said he was on an AD for a while at one point and that he went on it, felt more normal and like his old self, then went off in six months or so without any major withdrawal. I almost hated him for a minute.

The good hypomanias are so much better than the nasty ones. I'm sorry you haven't had a good one for a while. :(

I had a lovely one last week when I knew I could write a fantastic book and live off my earnings for years to come.
Yeah, right.
