(This is rather a miserable message, so dont read it if you are feeling miserable and need something more encouraging).
Its just such a slog keeping going. Does anyone manage to hope for the future? How do you do it? When I am having (yet another) short bout of clinical depression, I can usually keep going thru the past experience that I will get better. But I cant feel any hope for anything in the future. All that is definite is probably more depressive episode, ageing, and death (which usually seems dreadful, but sometimes seems a relief, tho not to the extent of taking it into my own hands).
In the shorter term, being ill so often means I cant plan things like real holidays (or visit family easily as they live a long way away). And getting tired is taking a risk at the moment, so limiting what I dare do outside work.
So usually I just live in the present, avoiding sad memories and scarey future. But cant always sustain that.
Any ideas for getting/maintaining hope -or just keeping going- v welcome.

Hi, I'm a few days ahead of you on the depression here. The only thing that keeps me going is the trust and knowledge that it will get better. Not as quickly as we'd like, but with time (and our meds) the depression lifts like a stubborn fog.
I did a lot of sleeping this time around and I think it helped my brain settle down too.
hang in there,

Encouraging words- thanks!
Also interesting as I tend to think I shouldnt sleep more than usual (tend to feel worse just after wake up, but its good at the time). So I wont feel so guilty about that either..
Good luck with your recovery two.
