I've had a terrible time finding a therapist I've connected with. The one I've liked the best isn't on my insurance plan and is $80/session. Anyone have any suggestions/referrals? Thanks.

Dr. Sayers Brenner in Sarasota.
Is that far from Tampa?

Yeah, about an hour. Not very convenient unfortunately. Thanks for trying though.

hi, i live in the same area and wasn't able to find a therapist i liked on my insurance plan. i went with one who is in private practice and i think it is well worth the money if you can swing it. If you want to stay within your plan, why not make appointments with a few and make your pick?

The one that's not on my plan, Chip Weiner, is worth the money, but I'm trying to cut back on my spending. Now that I've met my deductible, I'll get 40% of the $80 back which isn't bad. He's close to my work which makes it SO perfect. I've seen Carla Kelly and Mark Prange as well and I'm not totally sold on either of them.
If you don't mind me asking, who do you see that you like? And, who's your pdoc? I've been seeing Michael Sheehan for close to 5 years and I really like him, but I always wonder if there's someone else better.

i'm on the other side of the bay in st. pete. my t is barbara rhode, i started to see her about a year ago. my p-doc, who is on my insurance (an out-of-state blue cross blue shield ppo), is lia nardone. i relate better to female practioners, i have decided. it's so important to find a therapist with whom you can talk easily.
good luck, tampagirl.

I too have been looking for a female T but haven't found one that I clicked with. I'm on an out of state BCBS PPO as well and I can't really complain about it. I'll have to keep looking and in the meantime see the T that I like that isn't on my plan. Thanks for your info.

That would be great! My problems are depression and OCD. How do I use Babblemail?

I think you go back to your registration page and there are instructions there. It's neat because even though you get an email in your - whatever account (I use yahoo) - it's still anonymous.
Not that I'm afraid of you!

Tampagirl, I found out yesterday that my T is retiring from her practice!! I asked her about practioners in the Tampa area, but she doesn't go across the Bay very often. Sorry I wasn't able to help.
Now we're both looking. I asked my p-doc for a recommendation. She is so cool, she asked what insurance I'm on and gave me a couple of names of T's that take the insurance.
Let me know how you get on.
