Has anyone ever heard of a program
that can actually monitor an entire
board for therapeutic or gaming interaction
solely on the grounds of linguistic responses?I recall in college a prof. talking about
ELIZA [?] or was it ERIC [?];This place reminds a bit of that.

Nope,
But what an idea! Maybe Dr-Bob could do an anecdotal-type study of us all and our interactions (if we give him permission of course!).

there is some sort of very silly e-therapy site someone posted on psychobabble psychology a couple of months ago. I don't know if that's what you're talking about.

Well thanks very much!
I found it to be rather amusing myself...
That one is called 'Eliza' so I don't think your one would be that one. Haven't heard of the one you mention.

just googled for ELIZA and came up with this:
http://www.lewismoten.com/LewiesElizaChatbot/default.htm
interesting, i didn't know it was used for therapy or pseudo-therapy!
now ELIZA is just used as a generic name for a "chatbot" ... it's a real classic and its modern-day variants i don't think are used for therapy. a classic artificial intelligence problem - how do you make a computer sound like a human?
there are tons and tons of implementations of ELIZA
and this board doesn't really remind me of a chatbot
because i'm on it
and the things i say just can't be predicted.
aren't i cool? just call me narcissus from now on ;-)

I am chastising myself - sorry AK, I suppose amusing is a better word than silly. It was amusing.
It is SO HARD to offend ONLY when I choose to do so.

I wasn't offended, just a little... indignant.
:-) Don't worry about it, really.
