Vivid dreams - responsible chemical?

Posted by Wildflower on December 15, 2004, at 10:36:49

Anyone know if a chemical is responsible for vivid dreams? I've had them since I was a kid but last night was really vivid and bizarre. I'd blame the meds but I've had them for years and years.

Any thoughts?

When I was on pain medication several years back (only for a week), I had the most vivid, most technicolor dreams of my life. I couldn't wait to go to sleep every night. Once I stopped, my dreams went back to normal. So for sure, chemicals can mess with your dreams.

I know that meds are a big culprit but what about those not on meds? My vivid dreams have always been a part of me -- even before I started taking meds. There has to be something in certain people that allows me to dream this way.

Hey, yo, Wildflower. Hey, you know it could be like, your cannabinoid recepters. Indeed we have marijuana receptors. Who'd a thunk it(God maybe?)
One study, you know like a freind was in..well, when he quit smoking pot daily, his dreams were very vivid for weeks after. And the really odd part was that when smoking a lot, no remember no dreams. Quit smoking, remember dreams. Smoke, no remember.

Maybe my^^^ study was unscientific-but if you ask a lot of stoners, it isn't an uncommon phenomenon.
Where that all fits in the grand scheme of things, well, I've already forgotten the topic.
