Deja vu tomorrow and not in a good way. Last week I cancelled my pdoc appt due to feeling sick and she wouldn't renew my meds until I come in tomorrow, which is my rescheduled appt. It ended up in a huge fight between me, my pharmacist and my pdoc's receptionist. I've since apologized to both. BUT now we're expecting this HUGE snowstorm with mega snow but starting with freezing rain tonight. So, of course, that'll mean that I'll cancel again tomorrow. Too stressful for me to drive in that mess. So, with that I see deja vu with the fight about renewing my meds again. My appt can't be rescheduled again because she is going on vacation and my next appt is not until the 21st of January, when she comes back.
Could she be so mean as to not renew my meds again, which would mean that I'll run out and go into withdrawal??? Surely she wouldn't do that to me, do you think? I don't want to go through another fight AGAIN. I'm praying that this storm passes us by. PLEASE LORD!!!! Otherwise, I might have to see if my GP will give me the renewal.
I'm dreading tomorrow. I'm already feeling STRESSED!!! I see me with no mood stabilizer in a few days and going through withdrawal. :(

AG if it helps any..she will renew because if nothing else you could sue her for allowing you to go through withdrawal...but maybe she too will have to miss the appt and that will make it a no fight issue....I feel for you I too would be scared BUT one part of me would know she would not be that reckless...Let us all know what ended up happening..I hope the ice storm keeps her in or no storm
HUGS AND I KNOW PANIC SO I FEEL FOR YOU AND AM, HERE FOR A WHILE IF YOU NEED TO TALK

It is not illegal here to renew over the phone but I have to admit that MOST drs will not do it. All of mine do but my pdoc doesn't like to do it because she wants to force you to come in to see her so that she is not giving you meds that may not be right for you anymore. She will do it in some cases. My attendance record with her has been nearly perfect until my last appt that I cancelled. I think I only cancelled 2 other appts prior to that and they were a very long time ago.

Well, we didn't get all the snow we were supposed to BUT we did get freezing rain, which made for very slippery road conditions at the time I would need to leave for my appt. According to the news, there were already over 250 car accidents and this was only lunch time. That's all I needed to hear to cancel my appt. Driving in freezing rain and roads covered with snow and/or ice are VERY, VERY stressful for me.
Unfortunately, my pdoc did make it to work because at the time she went in, the freezing rain had not started yet.
So, I phoned and cancelled my appt and told her receptionist that I would need rx renewals and told her precisely what I needed. After SEVERAL phone calls between the receptionist, myself and my pharmacist, the bottom line is I did NOT get my renewals. The fault lies with my pdoc's receptionist in the way she attempted to renew them with the pharmacy but was extremely unclear with them and therefore they didn't get renewed. When she had earlier assured me that she would phone in the ok for them before she left, I decided to try not to worry about it and actually took a nap. I didn't wake up until after my pdoc's office was closed for the day and vacation and when I called the pharmacist I found out that they are not being renewed. In fact, the last ones I had her renew, were not for right amount of pills to get me through until the 21st (my next pdoc appt) so therefore there are 5 different meds that I will run out of before the 21st.
I asked the pharmacist if they could renew them through my family dr and he said that he would get right on that tomorrow. Of course, I don't know if my GP is in the office tomorrow or not but the pharmacist told me they could lend me some pills to get me through the weekend but couldn't give me enough to get through until the 21st. I'm almost positive that my GP will renew all the meds for me. He knows me very well and I was just in to see him a few days ago for a monthly check-up. The pharmacist is going to tell my GP that my pdoc went on vacation and that's why they are calling him.
I don't *think* I'm stressed but we'll see if I develop some canker sores, which I always get when stressed. I can't deny that I do have some concern but I'm almost positive that my GP will comply with the request. If not I guess I'll have to try a clinic as jyl suggested or it will be "hello withdrawal" from 5, yes 5 different meds at the same time. WHOOOPEEEEE!!!! Won't that be fun. NOT!!!
On a positive note, I was able to keep my composure with everyone on the phone today, unlike the last time, where I had to actually make some apologies because of how I reacted to the prior stupidity of my pdoc's receptionist.
