I'm one of a surprising number of people who moved from Lancashire to Greenwich Village.
A long time ago. I stll have family there ( and in Halifax. ) but prefer the vibe here.

Hard question - I think there is a greater sense of possibility, of reinvention.
In general, its much easier to make money,
life is more comfortable, a gentler society.I was going to say more diversity but its really more integration (ethnicity, class, religion, ..)
