Hi,
"L'estro Armonico" Vivaldi, Op. 3
Does anyone else but me like this brilliant music?

I haven't been able to feel music for years. I packed up all my CD's.
I wish I could get that back.

Ed,
I have full CD recordings of all of Vivaldi's violin concerti and used to adore them. For many years, my wife and I would buy 2 CDs a week, usually selected based on recommendations by reviewers in Gramophone or Fanfare. That way, we slowly built up a library of about 1400 classical CDs.
Unfortunately, depression has kept me from being able to enjoy music for the last 10 years or more. Most of the time, I find even my favorite recordings irritating and, well, depressing. Surely the loss of ability to enjoy music is one of the most cruel forms of anhedonia.
But I do recall the joy of discovering that the "Four Seasons" were framed by other movements, and that there were the other concerti as well, including the wonderful L'estro Armonico. I'm glad for you that you can enjoy them!
With kind regards,
Mark H.

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#amazon
The first time anyone refers to a book, movie, or music without using this option, I post this to try to make sure he or she at least knows about it. It's just an option, though, and doesn't *have* to be used. If people *choose* not to use it, I'd be interested why not, but I'd like that redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration:

Thanks!

Hi Mark!

Wow, that's amazing :-)

What treatments have you tried? Perhaps you could post on the med board for suggestions, I haven't seen you much on the med board. I take lofepramine (Gamanil) for depression, which I like because it doesn't numb my emotions.

Hi Ed,
I recently posted my current medication regime here:
http://dr-bob.org/babble/social/20050224/msgs/466701.html
My doctor added in some Lamictal a couple of weeks ago in hopes that it will head off my usual downward cycle this April and May. We'll see how it goes.
Thank you for your concern and for posting about Vivaldi.
With kind regards,
Mark H.

i'm not sure i've heard that particular piece, but there are certain classical songs out there that just sound amazing..classical isn't my favorite type of music to listen to (although i play it, lol--violin), but when it's good, it's really good, know what i mean, as with all genres of music..i'll have to give l'estro a listen..thanks for the suggestion.:)amy
