A computer puzzle.

Posted by alexandra_k on March 8, 2005, at 3:30:35

Ok.

THE PARTS OF THE PUZZLE:

One desktop (office) with a floppy drive. Network and email access. No disk burner.

One laptop with no floppy drive. Network and email access in office only. Disk burner.

Computer lab desktops (home) with floppy drive. Network and email access. No CD drive.

THE PROBLEM

I want to be able to use the most up to date version of my work on all three.

At the moment that is just not working for me...

I need to use a desktop to print.

I like to print.

Do I need a USB port or is there another way???

My laptop's proxy settings allow me to use the internet from work.

But not the computer lab because the proxy settings are different.

Are they so very complicated to change???

How about to go changing all the time???

If all 3 connect to the network, then can you save your work on a networked drive?

Or, you could buy a USB memory stick (pretty cheap these days).. Its a cute little stick that plugs into your USB drive and you can save things to it.. Works by just plugging it in with NT4, 2000 and XP.. anything older you need to load a driver..

Personally, I think the memory sticks (aka, flash drive, aka USB flash stick.. plus a whole load of other names *l*) are the greatest invention ever *l* I would never be with out mine.. And a 64Mb one should only be around $20.. My 256Mb one is about £25 (notice the pounds, not dollars *L*).. Just got a 1Gb for £80!

Any other questions, just shout!

Nikki x
