How were you effected by cyclone Ingred? I can't seem to pull up any NZ weather maps on the internet. Are cyclones just like hurricaines up here only spinning the opposite direction?

> I don't know what the difference is...She (Ingrid) crossed the coast of North Queensland yesterday luckily having dropped from cat5 to cat3 overnight. No major damage sustained as that area of the coast is pretty sparsely populated.
And Larry is correct, BTW they're AKA Typhoons in Asia.

I take it that an assumption that a cyclone in Australia would affect New Zealand is dumb as assuming that a hurricane in Florida would cause rain in California. Oops.
