While the net itself is addicting,i know people on yahoo mess all day,i think this group is a little more.
For some of us its are only outlet where we have people who MORE than understand and where we can get answers to questions,i value a lot of people here the same i would a doc.
So its like a free foroum to ask away and when no one else understands,im addicted i try to limit myself though it can be rough id like to read every post lol i try to read only the ones cohearent to my situation but the titles just grab u in.

Philippa,
Hah! I liked your post very much. To me, this board has become very addicting, as you get a chance to communicate and learn from people who are going through similar situations and this gives me and others a sense of comfort and connectedness. When people feel depressed, they need to let their problems out, and most people don't want to constantly hear complaining (my dad hates it!) so this board is a great place to "vent". This board serves as another type of therapy for me, but, when I'm feeling good, I don't like to wallow on this board. I ONLY read posts regarding my problems, which is what I hope most people do. If you start reading posts from people that you recognize from Pbabble solely to see how they are feeling and responding to them, that might be a waste of time.
Philippa, GREAT POST! I think MANY of us are addicted to this site and, too much of this, is actually detrimental to our emotional problems! In my case, reading about all the side effects/horror stories of certain drugs on this site, just seems to scare me more.peace.

I agree with you all. The only Posts that I stay away from are the kind of "male only" ones, if you know what I mean. If I'm really bored and have time I do read the ones that really don't concern my needs. Like the ones on stimulants. But then again I'm curious and sometimes like to follow a Thread because they don't always end up where they started. I don't go to the student board, social, books, and a lot of others. I don't even seem to go to the withdrawal board anymore. It seems to be mostly about Effexor. Since this board started though, it seems that the posts, even on effexor are more possitive. And I think this is good. Fondly, Phillipa

And CKl you're right. My kids get sick and tired of hearing my problems. Even people at the gym will say "your glass is half empty". Just be positive. Well that's not always easy to do so this is a place where there are a lot of experts, as I'm sure you know. And all of us regardless of age, gender, etc are REAL people. Now I have to venture out into the real world and pick=up my synthroid and maybe get a hotdog for lunch. But, you can be sure, I'll be back later. Fondly, Phillipa

When I stopped drinking alcohol I asked someone I respected whether they thought I was addicted to cake. He replied
"When's the last time you heard someone was arrested for
'driving whilst fat'?"

Hi Phillipa,
we had discussion with Ed few weeks ago about that. We both agreed that the board is very addictive ;-)

We sure are obsessed with the notion of addiction in the 21st century, aren't we (at least in the US)? 100 years ago, the concept of "addiction" simply meant "something which person x loves to do a lot"; it often wasn't even used with a negative connotation, AFAIK. In that sense, psychobabble is addictive. Addiction is simply relying on a given experience--repeated over and over--to get satisfaction out of life that the sufferer feels he/she cannot get any other way.

Perhaps the US would be better off without the DEA!

Like my usage of cocaine and alcohol in the past. If Someone, God, or even Satan could give me a med combo or remove a bad med combo to make me feel well...I wouldn't come around at all.
But since no one else seems to get my suffering I come here lest I go completely mad and jump off a building holding onto two other people.

Lets hold out a bit longer...We still have cable TV...But seriously... it sounds like we're both feeling pretty low right now. I still have a little hope left, and I bet you do to. If you want to talk more about this though let me know.

I'm not very good at suicide anyway. Nothing worse than failing at suicide. Really it's the ultimate failure.
You don't have your Babble Mail turned on though, so I can't really talk to you. Not here anyway.
