Yoga

Posted by messadivoce on May 7, 2005, at 22:16:20

Okay, so after a semester of fast food and not much exercise, I've packed on about 10 pounds. Yuck. I've always been a little heavy for my height (I'm 5'3") and I've tried various exercise and not really liked any of it. But then I took a yoga class last year and really enjoyed it. My instructor was really traditional, quite a purist. I really would like to find a yoga DVD that takes a traditional approach to yoga, not watered down for beginners. Lord knows my instructor didn't wanter it down.

I've already found a DVD on Amazon I'm probably going to order, it's "Bryan Kest Power Yoga". Does anyone own this? Can you reccomend it? Can anyone also reccomend a traditional yoga DVD?

BTW I can't get it to find this DVD with double double quotes, so the direct link is http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001WTWYC/drbobsvirte00-20

I think I'll feel better and have more energy if I can drop a few pounds, plus I'm getting married next June and want to look good. ;-) I'm not going to be neurotic about what I eat, I've already decided that. I did Weight Watchers and dropped 25 pounds before college, but I got to the point where my points allowance wasn't anything and I thought about food all the time. I just love food too much. :-)

So glad to see you back here.
Missed you lots.
Nothing helpful to add, but I think it's awesome what you're planning to do with yoga. Never lose that drive and care for your physical health.

It s*cks trying to revive it when it's REALLY far gone.

- 10der, who is pretty blah, yet still okay...

This is a great video/DVD. It's challenging and the teacher is very good. Ali MacGraw is one of about 10 students.
I'm sure either of the DVD's will 'work'.

I tried a bunch from my local video store and library until I found one I really liked, and then I bought it.

Mine is wicked watered down for beginners - perfect for me, not quite right for you.

Actually, the only exercise I've done in the last few years is walk to my car to go to work. I'm pretty much asleep if I'm not working and even getting to work is a struggle.
Sleeping is the only thing I excel at these days.
