Ok...not because of what it is celebrating, but because every flippin' place is closed! Grrrrr!!!! And of course this just happens to be the weekend when everything goes wrong. ;-P
1. Satellite has been out since Thurs, and I have to wait until Weds. to get it fixed (thanks to 7/4). I'm addicted to tv, so this is absolute torture for me. hahaha!
2. My car had gotten broken into, and I just found out that the glass company and body shop both charged me my deductible. Of course, both are closed and the insurance company is closed so I can't find out who owes me my $$$$ back.
3. I just got locked out of a website that I need to be on and of course customer service is closed.
4. I desperately need to talk to my health insurance company and of course they've been closed since early Friday afternoon.
5. I can't drive anywhere today! I live in Washington, DC and there is no way in or out of the city because of July 4th traffic. Darn fireworks show in the nation's capital! (ok...I'm kidding about that last sentence. I actually love living here...just not on July 4th!)
Now let me go see if anything else can go wrong so that I can call only to find out that the place is closed.....
grrrrr!!!!!
Anyone else have this kind of stuff happen right on our major holidays (July 4th, Thanksgiving, or Christmas)??? Darn Murphy's Law! ;-)

I love the 4th but it is always a traumatic time of year for my autistic son ( he is 10). He is absolutely petrified of fireworks- even when I keep him inside and put ear phones on him- and do everything I can think of under the sun to drowned out the noises. He still hears them and screams and cries.
I usually end up laying in his bed with him, rocking him to sleep (imagine a 5'4 118 pound mom with a 65 pound 4'8 kid being rocked and there you have me, ROFL).
Needless to say, after the 4th, I might end up back on some meds.

>To a degree I know what that is like. I used to have very sensitive hearing as a kid and couldn't stand loud noises and certain frequencies. Even covering my ears wasn't enough to muddle fireworks. On top of that, they the bangs scared me to death. Even though as an adult I still have sensitive hearing, it isn't nearly what it was as a kid.
What about earplugs with those noise canceling headphones over them? I've heard those types of headphones are really good about canceling out a lot of frequencies.

Yep , we went out and bought some of those today. We bought ear plugs AND the ear phones (the ones you use when shooting a gun). It seems to be really helping.
Why didn't I think of that sooner? ROFL
