Last year, Emme asked if she'd ever be happy again. I told her about one of my mother's little signs around the house, and tried to find it for her, with no luck.
Proof of my obsessive compulsive nature: it's been on my mind ever since! lol Anyway, last week it finally occurred to me to ASK MY MOTHER! So, here is the original thread:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/social/20040626/msgs/361204.htmlAnd here, courtesy of my mother, is the quotation I had in mind:
"There is no heroic poem in the world but is at bottom a biography, the life of a man; also, it may be said there is no life of a man, faithfully recorded, but is a heroic poem of its sort, rhymed or unrhymed."
Thomas Carlyle in essay on Sir Walter Scott(Note to self: cross that one off my to-do list...)
%^D
Actually, even though this is obviously way past its use by date for Emme, it's still a great sentiment, in my opinion. I'm interested in what others think of it.
