I signed as well. How sick! It's disturbing to see the kind of cruelty which gets carried out without any good reason. :-(

Could this be an urban legend?

I wondered that, but there really are horrible, disgusting things happening to animals all over the world. So who knows, but if there is the slightest chance I can make a difference, I will.

I don't think it's an urban legend. Here are a couple of follow-up stories:

:-( :-(

I can't believe such a horrible thing is true, but it is true...

How can people do such a thing?

Sorry I was naive enough to think that people wouldn't do such a horrible thing.

:-(

Deneb, you could not believe that because your kind heart probably couldnt imagine such a horrible thing.

I hate this world. It is a cruel, cruel world.

I don't think "The Sun" uk seems like a reliable source of information, but the other place with the petition seems to believe there is some truth to the story.

Even if the story is only half true, it is still a very horrible thing.

I wondered if it was an urban legend too Deneb.
However I checked with a couple of debunking sites and unfortunately it does sound like it is true.
Thank you Cass for posting that.

I know, frida. I care about all animals and dogs in particular. They love people so much. They are like children, and for people to abuse and betray them this way is sickening. Thank you so much for signing.

Thank *you* for caring and trying to do something...
I care about all animals too and it hurts my heart to see how some people can abuse or hurt animals, when all they give is love...
I have 2 sweet guinea pigs, fish, cats and I adore them all and suffer when they suffer. I love dogs and all animals. It breaks my heart to see an animal suffering. They give nothing but love, they trust, and are fragile, tender and loving. It is sickening how some people be so cruel to them, it's horrible.
Thank you for trying to do something..
Love,
Frida.
