I hope you don't mind my asking, but what prompted you to write this? It sounds as though you have a personal stake in this of some sort, although if so that's not quite clear in your post. Do you know the teenage poster in question in real life? If so, are you just upset by what seem to be contradictions between what you've observed IRL versus what he writes here? I just wonder why you felt the need to post this here.

Babble is an online forum where people can come for education and support from our peers. Obviously, since some of us are middle aged, "peers" is a relative term, but let's let that pass, huh? :-) It can't take the place of seeing a real life therapist or psychiatrist, but it can offer additional support, and there's value in that. There will never be any way that most of us can know whether another poster is "real" or not, nor how much objective reality there is to any information posted here.

In the case of the poster to whom I believe you are referring, my middle aged eyes say that his posts reflect his subjective reality. Does that mean I think what he posts issome sort of absolute objective reality? Certainly not. I think it bears the same relation to objective reality that my perspective did when I was 18. But I do think his posts show a young man in pain, who apparently is not receiving adequate real life support, for whatever reason. I can't see that removing what is apparently a helpful support system from him will benefit him in any way. I do think finding real life support would benefit him enormously, but I can't see that removing this would provide that to him.

What's more, Phillipa has posted to this young man out of genuine and sincere desire to be supportive. Writing this to her doesn't seem a way of increasing the peace and goodwill in the world, it seems more likely to result in Phillipa feeling bad, which is neither educational nor supportive.

So, I'm curious. What was your purpose in writing this post?

"Passing Through"? It looked more like a square dance in the steel cage of moderate maiming.

I respected you more when you were calling out the backyard babbelites. Now you whisper a kind of "nevermind".

If there's any way anyting in this post offensive, i would so welcome, and embrace, being banned. This sort of thing is always welcome. I mean, it's a "good" thing.

I am only passing through because I have a Life. My, you people do protect your own. No apologies here. Matt is on a suicide watch. If you truly cared about him...you would encourage him to seek professional assistance and get out of this web-site.
Respectfully & Good Luck----

Just for the record, many people here have encouraged Matt to seek professional help in real life.

And I am very sorry if Matt really is in hospital, but whatever it takes to keep him safe. You know this about him how again?

Good question Racer and I didn't know psych hospitals had computers. And if on suicide watch you would be stripped of shoes, belts, anything harmful and I doubt but don't know but can quickly find out if a pt on suicide watch can use a computer. Especially since he uses a laptop. Love Phillipa

I will disclose who I am in time...but please remember, there is nothing that this young man has received from this group that has been taken in a productive or positive fashion in consideration that he has been here for a time-frame that exceeds 24 months. With this said, you must certainly asertain the reality of these circumstances.

>>>There is absolutely no validity to anything this teenager is posting.
then he is on suicide watch why????

>>> This young man has overstated all dialogues relative to his Mother. This young man is high drama.
are you more concerned about posts regarding you? i definitely see validity on Matt's part!

I think it's clear who you are, not that that's an issue to me, because as an adult this posters choices are his own to make

but please remember, there is nothing that this young man has received from this group that has been taken in a productive or positive fashion

That is your opinion, and it could be true, the idea of what is productive or positive is I think, too subjective for one to decide for another.

in consideration that he has been here for a time-frame that exceeds 24 months. With this said, you must certainly asertain (sic) the reality of these circumstances.

The reality is, we cannot make his choices for him, nor could we make him leave this website if we wanted to (and we don't)
You must ascertain that the most anyone can do here is encourage support, and suggest professional help when it's felt necessary.

I think it's to his credit that he has chosen this site to post at, and chosen to befriend the people he has.
There is a moderator, and rules of conduct here. You must be aware of what else is available on the internet.

As for your "Have a Life" comment.
Well first it always makes me laugh when people point that out on the internet. Yes of course
*you* have a life, and thank you for letting us know. We will now be sure to treat you with the honour that is your due.

I will also say that some of us here are alive because of the support and advice we've recieved from others here.

I've said all I wish to say.
If you have any response to this, I won't be reciprocating.

This entire thread feels inappropriate to me. Why is someone being discussed as though he isnt here? Matt is a very active participant on these boards. If what you say is in fact true, ( and I hope it isn't!) then is Matt's privacy being respected? It doesn't seem like it to me.
