Compare a Body Wrap to a Massage please

Posted by Phillipa on May 14, 2006, at 20:59:26

My Daughter just sent me an E-card for a body wrap or a massage. What is a body wrap. I know what a massage is. And which is more relaxing. Thanks Phillipa

I don't know. I've always assumed that body wraps and scrubs involved more exposure, so I've never tried them. I'm interested to see what people have to say.

I've had both, but I have to say that I still prefer a massage. Personally, for me, I feel a bit claustrophobic with a body wrap. Although, before the wrap, there is a nice exfoliation and a facial and scalp massage, which were soothing and relaxing. But, I feel more relaxed after a massage.

a wrap is like a sauna for your skin...they take damp, warm-hot cloth (kinda like a thin ace bandage), and wrap the majority of your body one part at a time, if that's what you mean. i had it done when i was 16? and it wasn't for me then. too smothering :o)

I had a body wrap and a massage for my b-day present last year. It was my first time for both. The body wrap was interesting. They smeared lovely fragrant cream everywhere (but only worked on one section at a time, keeping the rest covered for modesty) and then wrapped me in some kind of film, then in warm towels then a blanket. Definitely not for you if you're super claustrophobic. I felt like a human egg-roll. I had my scalp and shoulders massaged during the body wrap and it was nice.

The massage I had was a traditional Swedish massage with oil. As it turns out, I'm pretty sensitive in my lower back, so I had to give the lady a lot of instructions at first, softer here, harder there, etc etc. by the end, I felt great! If you had to pick one, I'd go for soft muscles over soft skin. enjoy your treat :)

p.s. I never felt exposed. all my bits and pieces were kept under drapes.

Wildcard she E-mailed me back and said they put seaweed, mud, peppermint all over you and wrap you in hot towels like a conoon. I would be claustrphobic and I don't want all the ick all over me. I guess it's the massage. Ali said South Park. It's too expensive I will not take advantage of the fact she has money. That's not fair. Love Phillipa

How about a two-person body wrap? Yeah-baby (nm)
