I played a concert at a retirement community. It was a standing-room only concert. We played chamber music (classical). The audience was so sweet. They were so kind and complimentary. I love old folks. They are so cute, they don't take nice things for granted. They might not hear as well, or see as well, but their hearts are bigger and they're not afraid to tell you that they appreciate you.

What a rewarding experience that must have been.
I wish that "elders" were respected more. I live in Ontario, Canada, & just generally, it seems that YOUTH is worshipped. I like the respect that older people are given (or it's my impression anyway that it's this way) in Oriental societies & also Native American societies.
Thanks for telling about this.

Funny you mention this now as we have a lot of oriental families in our neighborhood. One man is l02 And walks daily with the aid of a cane. I asked a younger oriental couple that I thought it was great how the elderly are revvered there. The man said it's changing not any more. Love Phillipa
