There's a lot to sort through, but here is Dr. Bob's post about the block. There are discussions about it on Admin.

I know, I feel the same way. But on the other hand, we don't want flaming and trolls harrassing our people who tend to be on the sensitive side. (I'm saying this not having read what Lar said, but wanting to just make a general statement.) And lets face it. We're ultra sensitive here. Its one of our strengths and one of our weaknesses. Its what makes us introspective and care about other people so much. Not everyone is like that.
So in the effort to keep others from being hurt, lesser evils may be targeted, but with good intentions. Someone else reading what we wrote my interprete it completely different from how we intended. And I don't think anyone here would want that to happen intentionally. I just think we haven't quite figured out what is and isn't pc. You know what I mean?
So until then, we have to take the good with the bad and try to work within the guidlines to make things better. Yeah, I might say something to get me blocked, but I know its in an effort to keep the others safe. So be it. In fact, I'll block myself right now for 10 weeks with Larry just to show I support him as well as the site. The ultimate good is what matters.

~~~ I think that's an excellent way to see it.
I don't think the issue is new here that it's difficult to cope and justify seeing someone who may, for the most part, be an excellent part of the community get blocked. Sometimes, I have to REALLY objectively look at the WHY - the complete, yet simple, brass tacks of WHY and what they did. There are times I still don't get it but sometimes I do.
The very sad part, though, was that Lar was set up, and certain posts triggered him. Not fair. Not F*cking fair at all.
Please don't jump to conclusions about others, or post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.
I realize that you are being supportive of Lar, and that's terrific. But please remember that there are other parties involved, and to be sensitive of their feelings as well.
If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above posts, should of course themselves be civil.
Dr. Bob is always free to override deputy decisions. His email is on the bottom of each page. Please feel free to email him if you believe this decision was made in error.
No Jay, no set up to get Lar blocked.
I actually think the idea of plotting a ruse to get someone blocked is kind of weird.Had I been out to get lar, I simply would have had to report to Dr. Bob his breaking of my D.N.P request, istead of giving him a reminder.
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/admin/20060525/msgs/651948.htmlI did the same for you as well.
This isn't some game I play, we're people here, and all here for a reason, some more obvious than others, and some are more open about why than others. You can't know, what you don't know, about why someone reacts the way they do.
This is the end of the thread.
