Hint from H*ll, who wheezes?

Posted by Glydin on August 3, 2006, at 7:46:21

bad take off of Heloise.

I have a problem with stained fingernails and in my shameless quest on looking better with nails a la naturale, I got a beauty supply product at $2.00 a one soak pack. It worked well. On further exam, I discovered the contents are that of denture soak - i.e. Polident type stuff, which I believe, per volume, would come out quite a bit cheaper. Plus, nails of minty freshness as added bonus.

I'm going to try it. I'm not suggesting anyone else do the same but it's a thought....

Glydin I think you're getting bored. Do you need to work more. I know Wildcard could use your help with the baby Me too with the pup who has her nights and days mixed up.

If it works Maybe I'll try it my toenails are stained inbetween cleaning up poop and urine Love Phillipa

~~~ I am a bit bored but things will get busy very soon, so I guess I'll enjoy this for now. Babies I can do - even 2 1/2 lbs. ones but an itty bitty puppy, I don't have much in the way of resource experience for that. My suggestion is to be careful where you step - oweing to the small size and your on-going potty training.
~~~ See, it could be a helpful hint to know...

Very clever!

If I may indulge myself here, I'd love to share my own "trying to do it cheaper" story. Like your minty fingernails, it has more bang for the buck, too. :)

We have a lot of mosquitoes in the yard and my skin is prone to itching, anyway. The other night I was plagued by what I call the "travelling itch", and I just couldn't get comfortable. I decided to try an oatmeal bath since I remember that products like Aveeno and home remedies suggest oatmeal to calm the skin.

So I ran the bath, tossed in some milk bath crystals and about a cup and a half of Quaker oats. Had my bath, all is well, right? Heck, you could get more bang for your buck by taking your bath and fixing breakfast all at once. (snort)

Ummm. Now what? How do I get all those oats out of my tub versus letting them clog up the drain?

May I say the ol' gold miners would be proud. I've perfected my "panning for oatmeal" technique!

I think the cleaning up took longer than the actual bath did. I had to keep pushing my dog away from the edge of the tub, too, as she wanted to "help" me clean.

It's a very good thing we don't have a camcorder.

:)

Later I realized that it's *colloidal* oatmeal in Aveeno. Colloidal. That term that means particles suspended in liquid. Ohhhhh.

In hindsight (again, very good we didn't have a camcorder in the house, given my "hind end" was in plain sight!), I think I could have put the oats in a cheesecloth or old pantyhose leg to keep them contained. Where was Heloise (love that name!) when I needed her?

But my skin feels better! :)

Gotta love those home made remedies.

Most excellent.

I love those alternate and more thrify ideas - they just make good sense. My daughter called it cheap until she got out on her own, now she's more appreciative.

Well she could join my dumpster diving husband. He's built shelves in the garage out of the wood he's gotten. Oh the other night someone had three verbena hanging baskets out at the street for the trash(their garden and lawn are too beautiful)so my thifty husband put them on the handles of his bike and rode home with them hanging off the handlebars. I wish I'd had a camera. But he cut them back and will plant them as here they come up every year. Nifty thifty husband. Love Phillipa ps I put him up to it

Great idea but I'd be afraid that I'd start chewing my nails just for the minty freshness... ;-)
