A wonderful memory of raising my daughter is thinking about her love of Sesame Street. I LOVE that they have a new character:

And please, please, I HOPE no one will tell me they are offended or put down by this. I'm trying to maintain how I think of this place as a haven to discuss my little interests or general chit chat but I'm increasing feeling guarded and aware folks can find offensiveness where I do not. Oh well.....

Hi Glydin,
The following statement is my opinion only. It is not aimed at anyone in particular. Thank you.
My disclaimer clearly stated above: I think anyone who is offended by a new Sesame Street Character needs to move into the garbage can next to Oscar the Grouch.
BTW I was about 12 when Sesame Street went on the air and have no kids, but I've seen all the Muppet Movies.
Miss Piggy and I share the same heavy thighs and Kermit the Frog and I share the same insecurities. I wish I had Miss Piggy's positive self esteem, but nope, just those porkchops.

When I'm having a bad day, I just sing "Rubber Ducky, you're the one..." in the shower. It always puts me in a 5-10% better mood.
:o)

Whenever I see my niece (a toddler) we have long conversations about Elmo and Bert and Ernie. It's fun. Elmo's World is kind of cute. She had the song memorized when she was 20 months old. Her intonation is really quite perfect. Those Sesame streeters know what makes the kids tick, huh?

Rubber Ducky in German is Quietschentchen
(squeek duckling). I make it a point to learn the most essential vocabulary whenever I travel abroad.

I only got to watch Sesame Street when I was at home sick from school.
I liked Captain Kangaroo for Mr Greenjeans - so laid back!
Mr Rogers was not my cup of tea.My regional favourites - in Montreal, it was Johnny Jellybean. In Buffalo, it was Rocketship 7 (early morning), and Commander Tom at 4pm - he presented the Superman reruns. He sometimes had Lois Lane make guest appearances.
